Sébastien Léger Biography
Sebastien Leger begins 2010 in fine form. His label, Mistakes, has further strengthened his role as one of Europe?s leading proponents of contemporary underground techno. The antithesis of the showman that is fellow countryman, David Guetta, Leger mines a wholly different vein, updating the rich musical histories of Detroit and Chicago with a quiet determination and no-nonsense approach.

His much lauded musical ability stems from a classical background, but formal training is but one half of the story; having served his ?apprenticeship? in clubs around France in his teens.

The 1990?s saw the first explosion of French dance music culture, and as a young producer and DJ, he saw his heroes such as Laurent Garnier, Daft Punk, and Etienne De Crecy, begin to carve out a distinctive new wave of electronic music. He began producing at the end of that decade, and though surrounded with French filter house, he looked across the Atlantic for his own inspiration, with Underground Resistance, Derrick May, and Juan Atkins being a few prime examples.

Heritage techno might be an influence, but it?s a mere reference point for Sebastien?s productions and the output from his label, as he?s always made technology dance to his very own, distinct tune. Leger is thoroughly 21st century in his delivery and execution, packing a punch that has seen Mistakes become a best-seller on Beatport, and an imprint that is defining a new sound away from the soulless beats and clicks of minimal.

Tracks such as ?Binola?, The White Island?, and ?The Rhythm?, lie at the funkier end of the techno scale, throbbing and coursing with a proudly European sensibility; but regional influences aside, the reception to Leger?s recorded output ensures his popularity remains truly global.

Over 50 Eps for labels including Black Jack, Ovum, Intec, Pryda, and beyond, make for an enviable discography, but as the cliché goes, you?re as good as your last record, and Leger has always kept the bar high despite a prolific release schedule.

His latest remix, for Cirez D?s ?On/Off? on Mouseville, shows that he doesn?t just keep his best ideas for himself. Léger has consistently pushed his production boundaries and adapted himself to the sounds and technology around him. Despite his more cerebral sound of late, he brings to proceedings a dancefloor sensibility that is all about the ?funk?, injected with a heart and soul attitude that means his music is never clinical.

In addition to his studio exploits, a busy DJ diary means gigs across the planet, from Germany to Japan, the UK to Ibiza, and the US to Asia. It?s a schedule that means Sebastien remains at the forefront of modern EDM, taking his music to wherever dance culture shines brightest.

Format B Biog
Jakob is a Berliner, from Kreuzberg to be exact. As all good parents do, his wanted him to play an instrument. After years of successfully dodging music lessons and his parent?s wishes, he finally at the subtle age of 15 decided that he desperately needed a bass guitar, which then through diligent practice manoeuvred him from hardcore bands to funk and jazz bands. But suddenly, there was a small problem: he liked Techno parties much better than rock concerts. So, as one does, he began buying the odd techno maxi here and there until one day little Jakob thought to himself: ?Why heck, I can do that too!?

So off he went and bought himself an overpriced Atari St40 and a cheap synthesizer, only to realize that oops those guys from Detroit really do know what they?re doing and that it wasn?t that easy after all. Well, that is basically where Jacob?s ambitiously planned out life suddenly took a screeching of the wheels turn in another direction?.

Franziskus is from Erfurt, a small and rural part of Germanys quite rough and wild East, which didn?t stop him from starting piano lessons at the innocent age of 6. His musical interests took him from the usual suspects like Michael Jackson and The Pet Shop Boys through to Hardcore (obviously not on the piano). But then one day, or night to be exact similar to Jakob, all was to suddenly change?.. A fortuitous night out at the legendary E-Werk in 1993, made this young mans heartbeat skip from Chopin over to a 4/4 beat where it was to remain, probably forever.
Three years later Franziskus took up residency at the infamous Sub ground Lighthouse After hour, resulting in numerous further bookings.

The paths of these two young men crossed whilst they were both studying to be sound engineers. Seeing as all the other students in there year were long haired Metal heads it was only a matter of time until their paths crossed. So, after spending a few long Berlin party nights together they decided to see if they could start a project together. And so the story ends or better yet, begins with Format:B?.

Residents revolt against Mystik Fest

Quote

ARDAATTIN residents are up in arms over raves that see thousands of people flocking to the small rural village.
“We’re sick of it,” said one local man, who wished not to be named.

Last Saturday buses of young people were ferried to the Thornhill complex in Ardattin, a grain store belonging to local farmer Tom Nolan, for the Mystik Music Festival.
Residents say they weren’t given any warning for the one-day event, which attracted over 1,000 people.

“It was a shock to the system. It’s a nice country place so it’s a bit surprising to have this going on here,” said the resident.
Almost 100 DJs played a variety of house, electro and dance music across six stages for revellers from early afternoon.

“We would like it stopped. We are worried about drug taking; it brings a bad clientele down,” he added.
According to Carlow County Council’s Seamus O’Connor, Mr Nolan is entitled to host these events on his property.

“It’s not unlawful from our point of view, he doesn’t need planning permission for under 5,000 people,” added Mr O’Connor.

When contacted by The Nationalist Mr Nolan described the event as “a private party” and dismissed claims that the event was causing residents any grief. He also refuted suggestions he was making money from the event. “It’s in the centre of a 400 acres farm, the nearest house to the venue is a half mile away and that’s our own. We drove the perimeter and there’s certainly no noise. It was advertised all over the internet, residents would be well aware,” he added.

He also admitted there was a “really strong” garda presence on the day which ensured “a drugs free bit of music”. According to Mr Nolan the one day event was held in conjunction with ‘know your neighbour’ weekend and €1,200 was raised for Barnardos Carlow.

Two people were arrested for possession of drugs for sale or supply at the event

If anyone s from Carlow they will have seen this printed n the Natonalist.

They make the area out to be drug free area in all fairness.

Tullow just up road is full of drugs and Im sure their nt all drug free in Ardattin either.

Theres probably more people getting caught with drugs in Tullow daily than the 2 people that got caught at this event.
Bunch of aul 1s with nothing better to do.

I laughed at this 'house, electro and dance music'

Stupid as what warning did they need really.
1000 people arriving over 8 r 9 hrs isnt really going to cause much mayhem.
And the fact that its so far out of the way.
Couldn't even hear the music from turn off to the road that leads down the lane.
Bass was barely audible as you walked down the lane to the entrance then.

Anyway I say fair play to Mr. Nolan.

Mauro picotto biog
Mauro Picotto is an Italian DJ who began his career in 1984, at the age of eighteen, at a club in Piedmont called Top Sound. Following his studies he devoted himself full time to his passion as a DJ and in 1988 he became a finalist in the Italian DMC. In 1989 he won the Walky Cup Competition, broadcast on TV, which enshrined him as the best Italian DJ.

The same year he devoted much of his time to the production of his first album as R.A.F., and he soon became one of the leading producers at Media Records, of which he would eventually become a partner.

In the meantime he began to produce himself, releasing massive tracks including Bakerloo Symphony, Iguana and Komodo to name a few, though his fame is mainly due to Lizard, a track that turned into a musical style, receiving awards and accolades from all territories, pushing Mauro to the Olympus of the Top 10 most popular DJs in the world.

In 2001 he began his metamorphosis, leaving Media records and creating Bakerloo and the label Alchemy. His productions would vary in genres from dance to trance, the most sophisticated techno to an evolution of all that is homemade music.

In 2003 Mauro Picotto created Meganite - Electronic Music Lifestyle - a successful club party linked to the best DJs of the moment. For the Meganite events he has had on his side top artists known today as Chris Liebing, Marco Carola and Adam Beyer, all playing alongside Mauro as Meganite resident DJs. Since the very beginning, the selection of artists chosen for Meganite has been of the highest quality for an evening mainly based on innovative electronic music, a cocktail of pure energy and emotion.

Mauro Picotto has released over 600 productions and numerous remixes, and to date he has sold over six million copies worldwide. He has played in best clubs with the most famous Djs, as well as having participated in all the major events, from Love Parade to Creamfields, MTV Festival, Winter Olympics in Turin, Ultra, Time Warp and Awakenings.

In 2010 Mauro will release his new album, which anticipates his impeccable and unique style for dance music lovers.

Mauro is resident in Italy, and in addition to collecting air miles, he lives between Spain and England where he has family. You can follow him daily on Facebook (Meganite & Mauro Picotto) and on Twitter (MauroPicottoDJ).

FERGIE BIOG

?I just wanted to go back and take time to rediscover what the music meant to me?
Fergie (aka Robert Ferguson), a DJ of international standing for the past decade, has never had a stronger and more vibrant aural identity. Playing the kind of music he wants, determined not to be held back by perceptions and tags from the past, he continues to be a global representative for electronic music by consistently breaking down underground barriers and bringing new music to the people, without compromise.

There is no doubt that Fergie has firmly re-established himself as a producer of innovative exciting music that really takes a hold of you. Having dedicated himself to the studio for the past few years, where he totally immersed himself in his passion for music, this has been a true labour of love for

Fergie:
?I just wanted to go back and take time to rediscover what the music meant to me; how it made me feel, the buzz, the excitement. To find a sound that would reflect my individuality as a DJ and producer and in some way to recapture all of that in my productions? (Fergie).

Clearly he has found his sound and the results are very evident in the free flow of original
productions and remixes being consistently supported by the likes of Sasha, Digweed, Dubfire,Laurent Garnier, Miss Kitten and Slam. His ever growing ?Excentric Muzik? label has been hailed by Carl Cox as his ?label of 2008?, with Cox going on to license several productions for his forthcoming Space compilation this summer. Underground cuts such as ?Anon?, ?To The Core? and Blackeye-P? have helped to instill Fergie and Excentric at the forefront of serious peak time electronica. Excentric off-shoot label ?Rekluse? (launched at the tail end of last year) has got off to a storming start with first release ?2nd To None? by Umek refusing to leave the Beatport techno charts almost half a year after it?s release, peaking at the number 1 spot along the way

A steady stream of new material and remixes on many other labels of distinction have proven the Fergie sound to be one that is in much demand. ?Ireland? and the remix of Namito ?City Of Gods? (on Great Stuff), the remix of King Unique?s ?Hinode? (which went down so well they asked him back to rework one of their biggest ever tracks, ?Dirty?) and not forgetting the all conquering remix of Umek?s ?Gatex?, these have all firmly established Fergie as a proven seal of production quality for many.

A collaboration project with electronic compatriots Reset Robot & Alan Fitzpatrick is an outlet for a deeper, darker, more twisted side to Fergie, with the recent ?Gas Mask? / ?Rattlesnake? gaining momentum from DJ Hell, Luciano, Adam Beyer and Ivan Smagghe amongst others.
Then there?s James Lavelle, who has consistently supported Fergie?s work and drafted him in to his remix his renowned Unkle Project with devastating results. By the end of 2009 this will have been joined by remixes of Slam?s seminal classic ?Positive Education? (Soma), Smith & Selway ?Work it? (Tronic), Yousef ?Letter to No One? (Circus Recordings) as well as Reset Robot ?Softie? on Excentric.

2009 will also see Fergie playing clubs Shine, The Stiff Kitten (Belfast), Pressure, Sub Club
(Glasgow), Circus (Liverpool), Firefly (Nottingham), MOS (London), Shindig (Newcastle), The Tripod (Dublin), Meganite (Ibiza), Exit (Lithuania) and the Sonar festival (Barcelona), as well as international tours of France, Austria, Germany, Bulgaria, Italy, Brazil and Canada.
Sneaky Sound System Biog

Arguably the biggest band in Australia right now is Sneaky Sound System. Their
single ?I Love It? had the longest chart run in Oz history, their
debut album has gone twice platinum and at one point they had four
singles in the Top 40. They played the Antipodean Live Earth concert,
supported Robbie Williams, and
cleaned up at the Arias, the down-under version of the Brits. Yet
Sneaky are not
a hard-touring rock band or a manufactured pop act. They?re certainly pop and
proud of it, but their background lies in their country?s exploding
dance scene.
Sneaky Sound System are Sydney trio Miss Connie (Connie Mitchell), Black Angus
(Angus McDonald), and MC Double D (Daimon Downey), three very different
characters bonded by a riotous sense of fun. Their origins lie in the hugely
successful club night Sneaky Sundays, thus they make music imbued with
frolicking nightlife energy but also flecked with sing-along
radio-friendly 1980s electro-pop.

Their story began back in 2000 when Daimon met Angus at a fancy dress party
and stole the flute from his mariachi costume. They became friends and decided
to start a club on the quietest night of the week. Angus spun tunes and Daimon
hyped on the mic. It wasn?t some trendy minimal techno joint, but
unpretentious
hands in the air fun, ?no shoe-gazing, no wallflowers,? as Angus
describes it. Still going strong seven years later, it packs in around
1000 people each Sunday, and guests have included Tiga, LCD?s James
Murphy, Mylo and Hot Chip.?I got fired from my job after that first
Sneaky night,? Daimon recalls, ?because we had such a good time I
didn?t go to work the next day. Angus was in publishing and was made
redundant the next week. We thought, ?Fuck it, let?s keep doing this
and see how far we can go?,?

Angus had long had musical aspirations. He spent time in New York as a
singersongwriter followed by four years in London developing his DJ
skills on the club scene. Daimon, meanwhile, was born in South Africa
and raised in the tiny rural town of Bellingen on Australia?s east
coast. He came to Sydney to be an artist but ended up a barman. Once
Sneaky Sundays was up and running, however, everything changed.

In 2003 Sony asked them to put together a mix CD. The result was ?Other
Peoples Music?, a housey affair that ran into edgier territory such as
Gonzales and Metro Area, occasionally overlaid with live
instrumentation and Daimon?s rapping.

It was a success and before long the pair tried their hand at their
own music. The third piece of the Sneaky jigsaw was about to fall into
place.
For five years since leaving school Connie Mitchell had been in reasonably
successful industrial rock band Primary but after they split, she was
at a loose
end. One day, as she sat in a park playing guitar to a friend, Angus
and Daimon
happened by and asked her to sing for them.

?I thought they were a bit dodgy,? recollects Connie, ?You know, two
guys coming
up to you, excited, jumping around a bit, saying ?Come to our studio?.?
They did, however, have a recording set up - Whack Studios - and when Connie
sang through what was to be their breakthrough single, the contagious
dance-pop
of ?I Love It?, Sneaky Sound System had their vocalist. Within days,
they?d laid
down vocals to their eponymous debut album which, as Angus says, ?has one foot
in the clubs and one foot in the pop world.? The industry, however, was not
convinced.

?We were told by every label we might sell 10,000 copies and it wasn?t
worth it,?says Angus, ?so we decided to do it ourselves.?

Setting up their own label, Whack Records, they did exactly that with
slow burning but spectacular results. Strangely though, ?UFO?, their
catchiest song of all, was almost an afterthought. Angus wrote the
music and chorus ? ?I saw a UFO and nobody believes me? - in two
minutes after watching a National
Geographic programme about flying saucers. The next day Connie attended to
the verses; she, after all, could relate to the subject matter, having
once been
abducted by aliens. One night putting a few pieces of washing out on
the line to
dry?

?I heard this buzzing sound like a swarm of flies moving from left to
right,? she remembers, ?I looked in the sky and saw three white lights
doing super-quick
triangular movements. When I came back in everybody said, ?Where have you
been?? I looked at my watch and I?d lost 40 minutes about which I have no
recollection.?

Almost as worrying was suddenly playing in nightclubs. Primary had only ever
played pubs and venues. ?I?d never been in a club before,? she
giggles, ?It?s a
completely different world, it?s mayhem, isn?t it??

Sneaky Sound System were soon bona-fide pop stars, recognized in the
street or,
in Connie?s case, having to pose for a fan photo when she?d popped out in her
pyjamas to buy a pint of milk. The recognition also resulted in her making
prestigious guest appearances on albums by Kanye West and Snoop Dogg. A
whirlwind of Sneaky tours began with a full band, initially a
completely sold out
run of dates at home and then all over the world. Appropriately, they even
popped into Ibiza. ?That is one messed up place, I don?t know how they
get away
with it,? says Daimon, ?The loneliest, quietest place on earth is the airport
departure lounge in Ibiza...?

At home they toured with the aforementioned Robbie Williams, Jamiroquai and,
perhaps the group they have most in common with, The Scissor Sisters.
?They knew the words to some of our songs and, on our first date
together, stood
on the side of the stage cheering us on,? laughs Daimon, ?Jake Shears had been
recording with Kylie Minogue and apparently they were obsessed with our song
?Pictures?.?

Now Sneaky have finished their second album, working with Spike Stent of
Madonna and Gwen Stefani fame. For world release, it will be compiled with the
best of their debut and released in September 2008. Like the Scissor Sisters,
they?re a pop band whose heart lies in the swirling giddy party
attitude of club
culture. And like all the best pop bands, they?re a team of distinct
personalitiesand roles. Black Angus, named after a corrupt copper from
Oz TV series ?Blue Murder?, is the musical dynamo, MC Double D is the
flamboyant showman with a mic ? ?Better to be looked over than
overlooked,? he says - and Connie, the quirky front woman whose
hobbies include fast cars and robot-building, is quite the opposite of
a diva. In a time of predictable R&B dross and Luddite indie bands,
it?s refreshing to be presented with an ebullient outfit overflowing
with such hooky choruses and colourful character.

We meet a major challenge to create unforgettable events Electronic Music Festival, "IBIZA MOST
WANTED." The measure of success for any large project is creative, artistic and creative people. We
share a common passion and that he is the driver of joint action. We have talent supported by the facts
- we do not want to stop, creating a completely new face of house music. We give all what you expect
from us and we love what we do.

The main aim of the Ibiza Most Wanted series, is the creation of a club event, which mirrors the magical
climate of Ibiza and introduces the profiles of the best known artists, famous for their residency at the
most popular of the island’s clubs. Scrupulously selected sounds, hot DJs, decorations and visual effects,
will cause that the event will remain embedded in the memories of both, the frequent Ibiza goers as well
as those for whom it remains a holiday dream
